Overview
Medicare Supplement is health insurance sold by private insurance companies to help fill gaps in Original Medicare coverage. It is often referred to as Medigap coverage or a medigap policy. Only standard plans that are approved by the federal government may be sold.
Each standardized plan must offer the same basic coverage, no matter which insurance company sells it. Cost is usually the only difference between Medicare Supplement insurance policies sold by different insurance companies who are offering the same basic coverage.
